The 27th edition of the Bir Miftuħ Music Festival will draw to a close next Saturday, 30 May 2026, with an evening of chamber and vocal music in the atmospheric surroundings of the Church of Santa Marija ta’ Bir Miftuħ, located just off the roundabout outside Malta International Airport.
The final concert will feature acclaimed Maltese soprano Miriam Cauchi, cellist Simon Abdilla Joslin, and pianist Maria Elena Farrugia, presenting a richly varied programme of works by Gounod, Massenet, Franck, Lucantoni, Brahms, Foerster, Previn, and Vella Gregory. A special highlight of the evening will be the premiere of Melita Rose, a short new composition by Mark Pullicino.
The concert is being held with the generosity of a Din l-Art Ħelwa benefactor and through the artists’ own contribution, as both Miriam Cauchi and Simon Abdilla Joslin are performing pro bono in support of the event.
Entry is by donation, set at €25 per person, with tickets available via info@dinlarthelwa.org or by calling +356 21220358. Tickets include post-concert refreshments served in the church grounds, offering audiences a chance to linger in the historic setting after the performance.
The Church of Santa Marija ta’ Bir Miftuħ, one of Malta’s oldest surviving ecclesiastical buildings, provides an intimate and resonant venue, fitting for a programme that bridges Romantic lyricism and contemporary Maltese composition.
