Michelin-Starred Plant-Based Dining Lands at Rosami This Wednesday
For one evening only, Rosami at The Villa is completely flipping the script on fine dining. They’re putting on a fully plant-based tasting experience that champions the absolute best seasonal produce the Maltese Islands have to offer, and it’s shaping up to be a bit of a masterclass in modern cooking.
Taking place this Wednesday, 17th June, this special dinner is putting local, homegrown ingredients firmly in the spotlight. It’s all about proving that vegetables, fruits, and herbs can easily hold their own in a Michelin-starred setting without needing to rely on meat or dairy to do the heavy lifting. Whether you’re a strict vegan, someone trying to eat a bit more consciously, or just a massive foodie looking to try something genuinely different, it’s bound to be a brilliant night out.
The menu itself is a real love letter to the Mediterranean summer, with each course offering a clever, unexpected twist on familiar ingredients. The culinary team has clearly had a lot of fun pushing the boundaries here. You can look forward to a line-up of incredibly inventive dishes, starting with a refreshing Carpaccio paired with blood orange, crumble, and pepper, followed by a silky Chawanmushi topped with black garlic and a rich tamari foam. There’s also a beautifully roasted cauliflower done with a herb pesto and sour cream, and an eggplant tataki served alongside a smooth green pea hummus.
One of the coolest creations on the night has to be the tomato course, which is being served up to guests in two entirely different ways, namely a perfectly executed tomato steak alongside a comforting bowl of rich tomato ramen. You’ll also get to try a brilliant, plant-based take on a classic, which is a Rossini-style celeriac paired with a rich veggie foie gras and a deep, savoury umami jus. To wrap things up, dessert brings together local extra virgin olive oil, white chocolate, strawberry, and kiwi, followed by a selection of delicate petit fours. Even better, you don’t have to worry about staring at the wine list trying to figure out what works. The whole evening comes with a dedicated vegan wine pairing, carefully chosen to elevate every single plate.
What makes this event so special is just how hyper-local it is. The kitchen team has drawn inspiration straight from Malta’s fields and orchards, sourcing everything at its absolute peak to create complex, luxurious dishes that still feel deeply connected Mediterranean flavours. As sustainability and conscious dining continue to shape the future of food, an evening like this proves that plant-based cuisine can be every bit as luxurious, complex, and memorable as a traditional tasting menu.
The dinner kicks off at Rosami at The Villa, sitting right above the water in Balluta Bay, and it’s priced at €130 per person, which includes that full wine pairing. Because it’s a one-off event, tables are naturally quite limited, so you’ll want to get your skates on and book early if you fancy grabbing a spot.
