Master your Maltese Cooking at the Inquisitor’s Palace This Summer!

Calling out all food enthusiasts! Master Maltese cooking this summer at the Inquisitor’s Palace with Heritage Malta’s hands-on culinary course, ‘Flavours of Malta and Gozo – Exploring Maltese Culinary Heritage’.

This summer, Heritage Malta is inviting you to roll up your sleeves and sharpen your cooking skills whilst having fun, by embarking on a delectable journey through time and taste with its unique cooking course, ‘Flavours of Malta and Gozo – Exploring Maltese Culinary Heritage’.

Taking place at the opulent Baroque Inquisitor’s Palace in Birgu on scheduled Mondays, this course offers a hands-on experience that blends culinary arts with rich cultural insights. It is the perfect opportunity for both children and adults to dive into the heart of Maltese cuisine and discover the stories behind each flavourful bite.

Children’s sessions take place in the morning between 9:00am and 11:30am, whilst the adults’ classes are held in the evening between 6:30pm and 9:00pm. The sessions are bilingual.

Cooking Calendar

22 July – Balbuljata bil-patata moqlija: Concoct your own typical Maltese tomato, egg and onion-based dish, paired with crispy fried potatoes.

29 July – Għaġin bil-pixxispad: Learn how to prepare fresh pasta with swordfish, a dish that captures the essence of Malta’s coastal flavours.

19 August – Braġjoli: Master the technique of making braġjoli, tender beef bundles filled with a savoury mixture and herbs, and braised to perfection in a stew.

26 August  – Tonn u kapunata: Savour Malta’s Mediterranean taste with the island’s mainstay of the fishing industry accompanied by this vibrant vegetable preparation as a side.

2 September – Bżar mimli bir-ross: Combining bell peppers originating from the New World and rice coming from the Orient, .

9 September – Orżata u pastini tal-lewż: Discover the sweet side of Maltese cuisine with almond pastries and orżata, a refreshing almond-based drink.

16 September – Imqaret u ġelat: Indulge in deep-fried date pastries and homemade ice cream. Imqaret, a staple at Maltese festivities, paired with ġelat, offer a perfect end to any meal.

20 September – Kannoli u Swiss roll: Wrap up your culinary journey by savouring the influences which have shaped our culinary identity and learning how to make another two sweet delights, cannoli and Swiss rolls as prepared in Malta.

Pastini tal-Lewz

Adults will be able to unwind with a complimentary glass of local wine as they cook, enhancing the culinary experience.
