6 Top Spots to Watch the World Cup in Malta This Summer

The 2026 World Cup is officially here, and let’s be honest, Malta does viewing summer football better than almost anywhere else. 48 teams, five weeks of madness, and the perfect excuse to sit outside with a freezing cold pint of Cisk.

If you’re visiting the island and want to catch a match with a lively crowd atmosphere, you are spoilt for choice. Here are six brilliant places to watch the drama unfold, ranging across massive festival-style fan zones and trendy lifestyle hubs.

1. St Julian’s World Cup Village (Spinola Bay)

If you want that chaotic, hands-in-the-air festival energy, this is your holy grail. Massive Promotions has completely taken over Spinola Bay to build a proper football village. We’re talking giant screens, live DJs, food stalls, and a buzzing crowd that makes even a dull group-stage draw feel like a cup final. Entry to the main fan zone starts at €16.20, or you can split a table of six with friends for €96.30 (which beautifully includes €90 back in bar tokens). It’s card-only at the door, so leave the cash at home.

2. City Gate World Cup Village (Valletta)

For something equally massive but with a historic backdrop, head straight to the capital. Valletta’s main entrance square has been transformed into a football haven, featuring a mega LED video wall with full special effects. You can grab a pint on tap, order from a dedicated “football bites” menu, and watch the game under the stars right by the iconic city gates. They are showing every match, including selected late-night kickoffs for the massive games.

3. Is-Suq Tal-Belt (Valletta)

Also in the capital, Valletta’s gorgeous restored indoor food market is offering a completely different vibe. Is-Suq Tal-Belt has rolled out one of the largest screens in the city for the tournament. The best part? You aren’t stuck with standard pub grub. You can wander around the various market kiosks, grab anything from fresh pasta to Asian street food, and pitch up with a drink to watch the match. It’s indoor, air-conditioned, and highly civilised.

4. Mercury (St Julian’s)

If you fancy escaping the traditional pub scene entirely, the ultra-modern Mercury development in St Julian’s is delivering the goods. Specifically, head to Kuch Kuch inside Mercury House. This intimate, beautifully designed cocktail bar is screening the group stages on their terrace. They serve up multi-sensory cocktails and Indian-inspired small plates with full table service. It’s trendy, upscale, and definitely the place to go if your partner only agreed to watch the match on the condition that the cocktails are top-tier.

5. The Chapels Gastrobrewpub (Birkirkara)

Looking for a massive outdoor screen but with brilliant craft beer instead of mass-produced lager? This spot is a stunning industrial conversion of the old Farsons Brewhouse. They’ve set up a massive open-air screen in their rooftop beer garden, pouring over 20 craft beers brewed right on-site. If you really want to do it in style, they offer VIP Matchday Tables for groups (€26.50 per person) which come with your own private draught tap and two hours of unlimited BBQ wings. Absolute perfection.

6. Campus Hub World Cup Village (Msida)

If you want a massive, family-friendly fan zone experience, Campus Hub in Msida is going absolutely all out. They are hosting the largest TVM Sport World Cup Village on the island, running every single day from 11 June to 19 July. The setup is seriously impressive, featuring Malta’s only double-sided screen so you won’t miss a second of the action. It’s a brilliant option if you have kids in tow, as there is a free bouncy castle running daily to keep them entertained while you watch the match.

Even better, parking is completely free on weekends, and you get free weekday parking during the games simply by making any purchase at the hub. Partnering with TVM Sport and GSD Malta, they’ll be screening most matches live throughout the five-week tournament, making it a community hotspot to soak up the tournament atmosphere.

Local tip: While these spots are all geared up for the tournament, it’s always smart to drop them a quick line or book ahead for the massive knockout games!
