WATCH: Gaia Gambuzza Wins MJESC with her song ‘Diamonds in the Skies’

On Sunday, October 2, the winner of the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest (MJESC) was announced. Gaia Gambuzza with her song “Diamonds in the Skies,” won over both the jury and the televoting to capture the golden ticket for a one-way trip to Yerevan, where now she will represent Malta at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest’s historic 20th anniversary in 2022.

Andrea Camilleri with ‘Spark’ and Emma Kate Formosa with ‘Bounce’ placed second and third respectively. MJESC 2022 was broadcasted live at the PBS studios with a set of juries evaluating the sixteen performances. The ever-so charismatic Josmar and Ryan Borg presented the children’s competition show after presenting the adult version of the Eurovision song contest.

The outcome of the Maltese pre-selection has traditionally been decided by a combination of jury and televote. This year, the jury’s opinion was given more weight, with a 75% of the final score’s weight, leaving only 25% for the televote via SMS texts.

The song was written and produced by none other than Matthew James Borg. You can listen to the winning song here:

Revamps, as per usual, are to be expected, with a music video accompanying the single to celebrate it’s victory. We congratulate Gaia on her latest win as she embarks on a new joruney in her music career.
