Three Malta Restaurants Featured on Italy’s Hit TV Show Little Big Italy

Malta has been featured in a new prime-time episode of the hit Italian TV show Little Big Italy, broadcast on Italy’s national Channel 9 and hosted by renowned restaurateur and entrepreneur Francesco Panella, with three Malta-based Italian restaurants,  Zero Sei Trattoria Romana, La Vela and Le Majoliche, taking centre stage in the episode.

The internationally popular format travels across the globe in search of authentic Italian culinary traditions, guided by members of the Italian communities living abroad. The Malta episode offered a vibrant portrayal of the island’s dynamic food scene, Mediterranean character, and the longstanding cultural and historical ties connecting Malta and Italy. Through food, personal stories, and local experiences, the programme presented Malta as an international hub where Italian culture continues to flourish.

Joining Panella for the episode were three long-time Malta residents who shared their perspectives and expertise: Valerio Ballotta, an internationally recognised art dealer with exhibitions held worldwide; Claudio Caprio, a prominent entrepreneur active across multiple sectors on the island; and Caterina Bruno, a journalist and communications professional whose agency Magenta has long fostered strong connections between Malta and Italy.

Three standout Italian restaurants in Malta competed in the episode, each presenting its own interpretation of Italian cuisine and hospitality.

Located in the heart of Valletta, Zero Sei Trattoria Romana, led by Fausto Soldini, delivered an authentic Roman dining experience rooted in tradition and high-quality ingredients.

Set against the picturesque marina in Msida, La Vela, run by Enrico Alecci and Vincenzo Bocoraglio, combined classic Italian flavours with an elegant seaside atmosphere.

Meanwhile, Le Majoliche in St Julian’s, managed by Fabio Lipari and Elisa Valerio, stood out for its creative approach and refined presentation of Italian cuisine.

Together, the three restaurants showcased the quality, authenticity, and innovation that continue to define Italian gastronomy in Malta.
