The record-breaking feat took place on 6 September at Milbrae Grove, where Farrugia set out to beat an official Guinness World Record of 40kg. With two official witnesses present, professional boxing coach Claire Sammut and athletics representative Tonio Farrugia, he successfully lifted Grazielle, who volunteered to take part, weighing 48.1kg.

Yes, you read that correctly: 48.1kg, lifted with a pinky.

The feat formed part of a fundraiser in aid of Victim Support Malta, bringing together an artisan market, Zumba and Pilates sessions, live music and plenty of community spirit alongside Farrugia’s rather unusual display of strength.

This isn’t the first time Farrugia has left people wondering just how much strength can fit into one pair of hands. In 2022, the Maltese strongman appeared on Malta’s Got Talent, where he demonstrated his abilities in spectacular fashion.

During his audition, Farrugia bent a metal pan with his bare hands before lifting two 25kg gas cylinders – one with each little finger. The stunt left the judges visibly impressed and showcased the strength that has since become his trademark.

From bending pans to lifting people with a pinky, Farrugia is certainly proving that Malta has some serious strength hidden up its sleeve.

And this time, his strength came with an important purpose: supporting Victim Support Malta.
