Local national airline offering ‘rescue fair’ for stranded passengers

Malta’s national airline Air Malta is currently offering rescue fares for passengers who have been left stranded in Sicily as a result of the Ryanair airline abruptly halting flights to Sicily. According to Air Malta, Ryanair will be stopping said flights “for at least the duration of winter 2020/2021”.

Air Malta are stepping in to ensure “continued connectivity for this essential connection between the two Mediterranean islands. To minimise further disruptions, Air Malta is launching a special rescue fare for any Ryanair passengers that are expecting difficulties with their travel plans between Malta and Sicily,” said the airline on Facebook.

Do you classify as a passenger expecting difficulties? Here’s what you have to do:

When booking a flight with Air Malta, you can make use of the promo code KMRESCFR20. You must also show your original booking with Ryanair at check-in.

is there a catch?

No, but there are terms and conditions, of course. For those who have bookings until the 10 November, you can travel between the 26 October and the 28 March 2021, and you will receive a 50% discount on all Go Safe fares.

Air Malta also operates five weekly flights to Catania and as it stands, will continue to operate throughout the winter season.
