According to the health minister Chris Fearne, a total of 98% of those aged 12 and over have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
In addition to this news, Fearne told commissioner for health and food safety Stella Kyriakides that three-quarters of the population is now completely vaccinated against the virus. The commissioner is in Malta for one day has already visited a vaccination centre and the Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre in Msida.
“As you’ve pointed out before, the vaccine is our main tool to help us fight the pandemic,” said Fearne, adding that despite the dark cloud that the pandemic has brought over Europe, the bloc’s success story remains how it managed to get ahold of vaccines and make them available to its citizens in just a year.
