Maria Formosa Takes Home the Woman of the Year Award

Local jewellery company Mvintage awarded Maria Formosa the first-ever Woman of the Year Award. This was the inagrual edition of this award as part of Mvintage’s 10-year anniversary of encouraging women. The shortlist for the award of “Mvintage Woman of the Year 2022” was made up of seven finalists. Voting was open to the general public, with a selection of seven pioneering women.

The awards ceremony was webcasted live on the Mvintage Facebook page. Mvintage has made a statement about the importance of establishing the Woman of the Year Award. This was brought to light after defining the brand’s main value as ‘female empowerment’, thus the concept of honouring some of the outstanding women who have shaped Maltese society fits in perfectly with its mission. Mvintage was created by Krystle Penza out of her passion for art and fashion and her desire to leave a legacy for her daughter.

The other women who were shortlisted for this award were Gabi Calleja, Helga Ellul, Lara Dimitrijevic, Maxine Attard, and Shelley Caruana. Along with these brilliant women, Mvintage also shortlisted Angele Cuschieri, president of Puttinu Cares.

Maria was declared the winner with over 11,000 votes. However, Maria had no intention of taking the spotlight just to herself. She requested Angele Cuschieri to join the stage with her to share the award with her for her brilliant work throughout the past year.

We would like to congratulate Maria Formosa, Angele Cuschieri, Mvintage, and all the other women who strive to be a better version of themselves, proving that being a woman takes incomporable strength and defiance.
