Premiere of new Maltese classical work this weekend

St Paul Metropolitan Orchestra

This Sunday 16 October, the St Paul Metropolitan Orchestra will premiere A Mass for Peace, a new work by Maltese composer Mark Agius

This weekend sees St Paul’s Metropolitan Cathedral in Mdina host the premiere of Mark Agius’ A Mass for Peace, a new work advocating for peaceful resolution of conflict around the world.

Maestro Mark Agius is Director of the St Paul Chamber Ensemble, Grand Prior of Malta of the Sovereign Hospitaller Order of St John of Jerusalem and chairperson and CEO of Medina Foundation for Music, and has contributed numerous new works to modern Maltese classical repertoire.

The performance features soprano Karen Darmenia, tenor Joseph Aquilina and violinist Daria Skrzypek, as well as singers from the Rotondo Choir (Poland), St Monica Vocal Ensemble and Anacrusis Concert Choir.

This concert takes place under the distinguished patronage of HE the President of Malta, George Vella, and is in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund.
