New Information Booths to Open Across Malta and Gozo Ahead of Blue Lagoon Peak Season

Eight visitor information booths are being installed across Malta and Gozo ahead of the Summer 2026 season as part of ongoing efforts to manage access to the Blue Lagoon and provide information to visitors.

The kiosks are being set up in locations that serve as key transit points for people travelling to Comino. Three booths will be located in Sliema, while the remaining five will be situated in Buġibba, Mellieħa, Ċirkewwa, Marfa and Mġarr, Gozo.

Staff at the booths will assist visitors with the Blue Lagoon booking system and provide information on access procedures, safety measures, environmental regulations and visitor guidelines.

The booking system, introduced to regulate visitor numbers at the Blue Lagoon, requires visitors to reserve free access online before travelling to the site. Bookings can be made through the Blue Lagoon website and are available in three daily time slots:

  • 08:00–13:00
  • 13:30–17:30
  • 18:00–22:00

Visitors receive a QR code upon booking, which must be exchanged for a wristband at designated entry points. Access is limited to a maximum of 4,000 visitors at any given time. Authorities have warned that unauthorised access may result in fines.

The Blue Lagoon is part of a Natura 2000 protected area, and the visitor management system was introduced to reduce pressure on the site while improving safety and organisation during peak periods.

Other measures that will remain in place during Summer 2026 include an extended swimming zone, enhanced cleaning and waste collection services, increased security and enforcement operations on land and at sea, lifeguards and emergency response teams, police presence, environmental monitoring and regular patrols throughout the area.

According to Team Blue Lagoon Director Aldo Pace, the additional information booths are intended to improve visitor awareness and provide guidance before visitors reach Comino.

Malta Tourism Authority CEO Carlo Micallef said the measures introduced in recent years had helped balance tourism activity with environmental protection and that the authority would continue investing in site management, safety and cleanliness during the upcoming summer season.

Authorities are advising visitors planning to visit the Blue Lagoon to make their reservations in advance and follow the instructions provided by onsite personnel.
