Malta and Gozo's Accessible Beaches for Summer 2026

Mellieħa Bay

The Maltese summer wouldn’t be complete without a day at the beach. From the golden sands of Mellieħa Bay to the crystal-clear waters of Ramla l-Ħamra in Gozo, our islands offer some of the Mediterranean’s most inviting seaside spots. Even better, many of Malta and Gozo’s beaches now feature accessibility facilities, making it easier for more people to enjoy a day by the sea. Here’s your guide to the accessible beaches available across the islands for Summer 2026.

From the north to the south of the island, many popular beaches now offer a combination of accessible walkways, adapted toilets, beach wheelchairs, access hoists, Blue Badge parking, lifeguard services, and Blue Flag status.

Northern Malta

Għadira Bay

  • Buġibba Beach: Walkway, accessible toilets, Blue Flag beach and lifeguard tower.
  • Qawra Point: Walkway, accessible toilets, Blue Flag beach, access hoist, lifeguard tower and Blue Badge parking.
  • Golden Bay (Mellieħa): Walkway, accessible toilets, Blue Flag beach, beach wheelchairs, lifeguard tower and Blue Badge parking.
  • Għajn Tuffieħa (Mellieħa): Lifeguard tower, Blue Flag status and Blue Badge parking.

Central Malta

Exiles, Sliema

Southern Malta

Ta' Fajtata, Marsaskala

  • Ta’ Fajtata (Marsaskala):  Walkway, accessible toilets, access hoist, lifeguard tower and Blue Badge parking.
  • Pretty Bay (Birżebbuġa):  Walkway, accessible toilets, beach wheelchair, access hoist, lifeguard tower and Blue Badge parking.
  • Wied il-Buni (Birżebbuġa):  Walkway.
  • San Ġorġ (Birżebbuġa): Lifeguard tower.

Gozo

Gozo’s stunning coastline is equally welcoming, with several beaches offering excellent accessibility facilities.

  • Ramla l-Ħamra: Walkway, accessible toilets, Blue Flag beach, beach wheelchairs, lifeguard tower and Blue Badge parking.
  • Marsalforn Beach (Żebbuġ): Walkway, accessible toilets, beach wheelchairs, lifeguard tower and Blue Badge parking.
  • Ħondoq ir-Rummien (Qala): Walkway, accessible toilets, Blue Flag beach, beach wheelchairs, lifeguard tower and Blue Badge parking.
  • Xwejni Bay: Walkway, accessible toilets, beach wheelchairs and lifeguard tower.

Beach wheelchairs and access hoists are available at selected beaches during beach crew operating hours between 10:00am and 6:00pm.

As these services are in high demand, visitors are encouraged to pre-book in advance by calling 2291 5000 between 8:00am and 12:00pm to confirm availability.
