GoTo unites with Foodbank Foundation to deliver food donations

GoTo, Malta’s popular multi-modal vehicle sharing service provider, has started the New Year on the right foot. They are continuing their work, this year, by supporting the vital work of the Foodbank Lifeline Foundation in Malta, to provide food for those in need. The company recently contributed a fleet of cars, as well as some manpower, to help transport the charity’s many donations from St Julians, to its warehouse in Marsa.

“The Foodbank Lifeline Foundation believes that no child or adult should ever experience hunger. It does its utmost to ensure that individuals, couples and families who struggle – particularly during these challenging times – can make ends meet, with enough food to cover them in the short-term, until a longer-term solution is found,” said GoTo CEO Gordon Bugeja.

We are extremely proud to have had the chance to support them as they offer people this vital lifeline and we are keen to continue doing so going forward. Sharing is at the very core of our company and that creates a clear synergy between the Foundation’s mission and ours. Together we can go even further in building a more sustainable future,” he added.

While the company has been offering its vehicles and team support to assist the Foodbank since October 2020, its contribution is particularly appreciated following the Christmas period. The Foundation’s ‘Reverse Advent Calender’ campaign, which occurred over the festive season, tends to generate a rather high number of food donation to its St Julians collection centre, from schools, private individuals and businesses, all of which must be sorted quickly, according to expiry date and product, before being taken to their warehouse.

To help Foodbank complete such a monumental task, volunteers from the GoTo team have, this month already, helped transport over one tonne of food, in over 150 boxes, using ten GoTo electric cars.
