What a night: Pete Tong Classics and The Heritage Orchestra

Last night Pete Tong performed a stunning set that celebrated all his classic, well-known and greatly loved hits. The concert took place at Malta’s largest public square, the Granaries in Floriana.

Titled Pete Tong’s Classics, the UK-based DJ teamed up with The Heritage Orchestra and conductor Jules Buckley, to put a brand new spin on his tracks, which beautifully combined authentic instruments with more electronic ones. The performance featured three albums – Classic House, Ibiza Classics and Chilled Classics.

The event was one of the island’s standing ones in a long while since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and followed the most up-to-date health protocols. Attendees were grouped in bubbles of up to 100 people, with separate entrances, bars and amenities.

Tong gained tremendous publicity as one of the UK’s best DJs and was considered to be one of the best residential DJs in the world, when he accepted a residency at Pacha Nightclub in Ibiza, between the years 2003 and 2007. He’s also best known for hosting two radio shows, called Essential Mix and Essential Selection.

“Months and weeks of sacrifices by the Maltese public have brought us here, in a position where we can organise a controlled event of this scale, following all the regulations and ensuring everyone’s safety. We are honoured to be bringing Pete Tong and The Heritage Orchestra to Malta, in what promises to be an innovative experience for all those attending,” said Johann Buttigieg, the CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority, before the event took place.

We can tell you, it was certainly a brilliant experience and we cannot wait for more.
