The quaint old village of Għarb in Gozo decorated its streets with countless colourful kites, for the fourth edition of the International Kite and Wind festival, which took pace over the weekend.
On Friday the 15th, there was the official opening of the festival, as kite flying took place at the Wiġi Portelli football ground in Għarb. This was followed by kite flying at the San Dimitri area for the rest of the weekend. At the end of the event, on Sunday, there was a traditional bonfire, alongside a set of stunning fireworks, to mark the occasion of the feast of St Dimitri.
The Gozo international Kite and Wind festival attracts a myriad of enthusiasts from all over the world, including the UK, Ukraine, Poland, Austria, Germany, Holland, Italy, Belgium, China and Brazil, to name a few, as well as a number of spectators, who participate in the festival by flying their own kites.
