While in Malta you cannot miss a visit to the Dome.  The beautiful and majestic Basilica of the Assumption in the town of Mosta should be in the must-see bucket list of every visitor to the Maltese Islands. It offers an experience second to none. No wonder it is one of the top places in Malta, sought after by tourists and locals alike. Its uniqueness is its brand. 

It is a rotunda – a place of worship built in the round, emulating Rome’s Pantheon.  Its unsupported dome is big – gigantic describes it more accurately.  It is an architectural beauty – a mix of neo-classical designs and motifs.  It has challenged doom – a bomb, no five, were dropped on it within the space of minutes, during a fateful day in April 1942, and none exploded.

It offers an all-round experience – one can go on the roof and take in the mind-blowing view; one can go beneath it and travel back in time inside the wartime shelter; one can go inside the church and fathom the array of art, architecture, design and colour that make the interior an explosion of amazement and wonder.
