Malta Places Second in U18 FIBA Women’s European Championship

Malta had a tremendous showing last week. In their Group at the FIBA U18 Women’s European Championship Division C, Malta’s U18 girls demolished the competition, winning every single match, and advancing to the semi-finals. The Maltese team surpassed expectations after defeating Andorra in the semi-finals with a score of 84-48.

The Maltese basketball contingent was in Andorra, where they played against a set of five other teams. They advanced to the final held on Sunday 31 July. Unfortunately, while they put up a great fight, it wasn’t enough to beat Georgia.

Danika Galea was listed as the top performer in all four matches. In the finals, she led her team with ‘17 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks, also claiming her spot in the All-Star Five with tournament averages of 18.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game’.
