WATCH: Meet Malta's Rising Golf Star Elliana Buhagiar
Sixteen-year-old golfer Elliana Buhagiar is proudly flying the Maltese flag on the international golf scene. A dual citizen of Malta and Canada, Elliana is a member of Malta’s National Women’s Golf Team, representing her father’s homeland while competing in tournaments across Europe.
Based in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, Elliana visits Malta twice a year for competitions and continues to share her love for the island throughout the year as a proud Visit Malta ambassador, showcasing Malta to her growing international audience.
Her impressive journey has already seen her commit to Jacksonville State University, where she will begin her NCAA Division I golf career in 2027. Following in the footsteps of her father, a proud Maltese citizen and former JSU baseball player, Elliana is set to continue a special family connection with the university.
Behind her success is years of dedication, discipline and countless hours on the course. Her talent has earned her sponsorships from leading golf brands including Callaway Golf Canada and PING Canada, while she is also a sponsored junior member of Granite Golf Club, one of Canada’s top golf facilities.
Beyond her sporting achievements, Elliana is also making an impact as an official ambassador for the Malta Tourism Authority and as a member of the Maltese Olympic Committee’s Athletes’ Commission, where she will serve a four-year term.
