Palazzo Falson to Mark Women’s Day with Women & The Sea Guided Tour

Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum in Mdina marks Women’s Day on Sunday 8 March 2026 with a themed guided tour exploring women’s historic ties to the sea and maritime heritage.

To mark Women’s Day 2026, the Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum will host a themed guided tour titled Women & The Sea on Sunday 8 March from 10:30am to 12:00pm.

Set within the historic surroundings of Mdina, the event will explore the long and often challenging journey women endured to secure the right to work officially within the maritime industry. The tour will also examine the broader relationship between women and the sea throughout history, drawing on pieces from the collection of Olof Gollcher, the museum’s founder.

Through selected artworks and artefacts, participants will gain insight into the social, cultural and economic barriers women faced in maritime professions, as well as the lesser-known but significant roles they played in seafaring communities over the centuries.

Following the guided tour, attendees will be invited to enjoy a glass of Buck’s Fizz in the museum’s revivalist courtyard. Should the weather prove unfavourable, refreshments will instead be served in the Refectory of the Palazzo.

Pre-booking is required. Those wishing to attend are asked to email bookings@palazzofalson.com by no later than 2:00pm on Friday 6 March. Tickets are priced at €18, €15 for museum members, and €6 for children aged 6–12. Tickets are non-refundable.

Further details can be found on the museum’s official Facebook event page.
