The Għaxaq Music Festival: The Return of a Well-Loved Tradition this July

Summer is most certainly here! The hot season harks in a staple appointment in our local music calendar: The Għaxaq Music Festival! This much awaited, well-loved tradition spreads on a two day music festival, which will be taking place on 27 and 29 July
day one - thursday 27 july

The party kicks off with true music legends: Grammy Nominated raggae pioneers, The Wailers are a rare breed of musicians who have earned their place in the annals of music history. Their culture-defining music, embodying the spirit of the 70s reggae movement, has left an indelible mark on the industry. Following their successful performances and captivating audiences across the United States, The Wailers are set to embark on an international journey, gracing stages in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Greece, Malta, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Canada.Experience the magic of their timeless classics and incredible cuts from Bob Marley’s vast repertoire in a set that is truly unforgettable. The Wailers continue to preserve the legacy of their iconic sound. The Wailers will bring their iconic reggae sound to the Ghaxaq Grounds in Ghaxaq, Malta.
Aston Barrett Jr. will lead the band in delivering a powerful and soulful performance that will captivate the audience.
Feel the warmth of the Mediterranean breeze as you groove to the infectious rhythms and revel in the positive vibrations that resonate from the stage. Join the people of Malta and let the music of The Wailers create a night of unity, love, and cultural celebration.
Maltese talent will take to the stage with the ultra-cool Mark Micallef Costa & Band as supporting act creating in the Għaxaq Grounds that idyllic romantic feel of a balmy summer atmosphere.
Domenican Republic DJ Jonathan Gonzalez and MC Badboy Stefan from the UK will host the event whilst Maltese Dj JJoy will close the night with a final set.
day two - saturday 29 july

The stars align Malta to Italy. Marco Masini, the two-time San Remo winner; with his T’Innamorerai-30 Anni Insieme Finalissima Tour takes possession of the stage with lyrical intensity and burning fervour. The poetic Italian ‘cantautore’ music will cast its spell as Masini belts his most passionate love anthems to which we all know the words by heart. Sing along the classics, ‘T’Innamorerai, Bella Stronza, Principessa, Disperato, Ti Vorrei and much more until your lungs will drop.
Marco Masini will be coming to Malta in full gear. Joining the band are his technical crew, sound and light engineers.
Top tier Maltese talent gets further exposure with Kurt Calleja and his band who will be opening the show with a repertoire of music aimed at mesmerising the audience into singing their hearts out whilst enkindling that loving feeling!
Pierre Cordina will host the night whilst Malta’s loved, DJ Sue will take us on a music trip during her closing set.
The entrance to these concerts is free but attendees are encouraged to give a donation in aid of Embrace Diversity Organisation; a voluntary organisation for children and youths with disabilities.
